I can’t tell you exactly when the idea of visiting Turkey’s gorgeous Turquoise Coast first entered my mind, but it was at least a few years ago. So when I was planning a major birthday trip to Turkey last year, I know that my itinerary needed to include at least a few days soaking in the sun here…ultimately choosing Fethiye as my base.
Since Turkey is really fairly affordable, you can get very nice accommodation for a reasonable cost. And since this trip was all about an epic birthday celebration, I was in the market for something special. I ended up at a beautiful little boutique hotel called Hotel Unique in Fethiye.

My travel planner (hi, Katie!) had done a lot of research based on what I was looking for and narrowed my choices down to four of the best hotels in Fethiye. I looked at rentals too, but for only two days/nights I felt hotel was the better way to go.
And Hotel Unique really stood out, had awesome reviews (check them out on TripAdvisor and Booking.com), and I could get a sweet room. I always compare reviews and prices on both sites, and typically book on Booking.com when I can.
I booked a private airport transfer through the hotel, and they sent a driver with a nice (air-conditioned!) car. He drove me the 50 minutes or so from the Dalaman Airport to the hotel in Fethiye.

The hotel is super charming from the first minute you step in. I was offered a welcome glass of rosé while they got my checked in.
The staff were a delight, particularly a sweet young lady who was just so energetic and helpful. For whatever reason it took half an hour to check me in (though I was the only one there), but at least I had my wine to keep me company 🙂

My room was so nice, I could have lived there permanently!
I got one of their bigger rooms, wanting to splurge for my birthday. It was a deluxe double room, open and airy, with gorgeous views over the water and two separate balconies. The room was clean and comfortable, with nice little touches and even a little Nespresso machine.
And I had not one—but TWO—beautiful balconies! This was a big selling point for this particular room…that view is to die for.

In fact, I availed myself of the balconies every chance I got. Both mornings I stayed here, I got up early to watch the sun rise creep over the mountains and the water. I got some work done, drank some of that Nespresso goodness, and just basked in the beauty.

I made sure to make it back for sunset both days too…picked up an amazing bottle of wine in town and had a glass or two before heading down to dinner.

One of the coolest parts of Hotel Unique is the beautiful pool, overlooked by a lovely multi-level open-air restaurant and bar area. Sadly I didn’t have a chance to actually lounge by the pool since my stay was so short.

The rest of the hotel grounds aren’t too shabby either. The corridors, stairwells, lobby, and other public areas are pretty and clean.

Because my stay was so short, I didn’t really get to do either the bar or pool area justice. I did make it a point to belly up to the bar for a pre-dinner drink on my first night there. While the cocktail was kind of terrible, the view and ambiance were great.

On my first night made dinner reservations at the hotel’s restaurant, which gets good reviews and has that awesome sunset view.

Dinner was fine, though the food wouldn’t blow your mind. I had their “King of Aegean” salad, which was super intense and tasted great though after a few bites my taste buds were overwhelmed. All sorts of tart, acid, salt, etc. But good. I also had the sea bass and kunafa (too soggy and sweet).
Service was hit and miss, I really wanted to leave and go to bed but couldn’t flag down a waiter to save my life. While the sunset is nice, I got the same one from my balcony and then could have had dinner somewhere else in Fethiye.

The room did include free hotel breakfast, which was okay. It’s great because you do get to order yourself rather than it being a buffet.

The sweet girl at the front desk helped me arrange my Olüdeniz paragliding trip with Deep Blue Travel as well. I totally loved my time at Hotel Unique and definitely think it’s one of the best hotels in Fethiye…and I’m dreaming of a return trip!
Hotel Unique: At the time I paid a little over €225 a night including tax, and you can see availability at that link. I think the airport transfer was €40 one-way. Check out my time in Fethiye as well as my amazing two days sailing the Turquoise Coast as well!
